Can You Control Force Off-Balance?

• More weight on one side
• One foot slightly ahead
• Contact from an opponent
• Momentum pulling you off-center

The question isn’t just “Are you powerful?”

It’s:

Can you control that power when things aren’t perfect?

The Three Questions That Matter

In simple terms:

Can you produce force?
Can you absorb force?
Can you control force when you’re off-balance?

Sports performance research consistently highlights the importance of:

• Single-leg power
• Frontal plane control
• Asymmetrical force absorption

These qualities are critical for both injury reduction and explosive performance.

Power without control is incomplete.

Why add the freeze?

Because power without control is just noise.

The freeze forces you to:

✅ Stabilize through the hips
✅ Control knee alignment
✅ Engage the core
✅ Own the landing

You’re not just jumping.

You’re learning to decelerate and dominate the landing.

Landing Well = Athleticism

Too many athletes focus only on how high they can jump.

Fewer focus on how well they can land.

But here’s the truth:

The ability to stop quickly
Is what allows you to go quickly

— especially in the opposite direction.

That’s change-of-direction speed.
That’s defensive control.
That’s durability.

Train for Chaos (In a Controlled Way)

Sport isn’t played on machines.

It’s played in chaos.

So your training should include:

• Explosiveness
• Deceleration
• Symmetrical strength
• Asymmetrical control

Build power.

But also build balance.

Final Thought

Stick the landing.
