The Motivation Myth
Mindset & Consistency
“Motivation doesn’t create action. Action creates motivation.”
Struggling with Motivation? Read This.
One of the most common things I hear from people struggling with their fitness:
“I’m just not motivated to work out.”
But here’s the truth—and it might surprise you: motivation is a myth.
It’s not something that randomly shows up one day like a lightning bolt from the sky.
And if you’re waiting for that magical moment when you feel like working out, eating better, or changing your habits… you could be waiting a long time.
Motivation Doesn’t Come First—Action Does
That’s the part most people get wrong.
You don’t wait to feel motivated—you take a small step.
That step builds momentum.
Then the next step adds more.
And the next.
And before you know it, motivation shows up—not by chance, but by habit.
Start Small, Stay Consistent
What’s that one small action that starts it all? It depends.
It could be:
One workout (even just 2 minutes)
One healthy(er) meal (maybe adding protein or a vegetable)
One walk (as short as 5 minutes)
One better choice at night (getting to bed 15 minutes earlier)
Whatever it is—just do one thing that points you in the right direction.
Then do it again.
And again.
That’s how progress starts.
Not from a burst of motivation—but from a decision to act.
Final Thought
If you’re trying to get back into a routine this fall, or just need a reset, ask yourself:
What’s one small thing I can do today to move forward?
Take that step.
Let action build your momentum.
And watch motivation follow.
