Here’s a confession: even as a coach, I catch myself comparing.
I’m part of a mastermind group with other coaches, trainers, and fitness professionals from around the world.
We talk business, training, life, mindset—everything.
Recently, someone said:
“I always feel like I’m not where I should be.”
And it hit me.
That’s not just a business-owner problem.
That’s a human problem.
Let’s say someone loses 8 pounds in 8 weeks.
That’s incredible progress.
But then they scroll through social media and see someone who lost 15 pounds in the same timeframe...
and suddenly, that 8 doesn’t feel like enough.
Sound familiar?
We’ve all done it—compared ourselves to someone else and come up short.
Peers, friends, co-workers—there’s always someone who seems to be doing more, faster, or “better.”
But here’s the truth:
You’re not in their race.
You’re in your race.
Your circumstances.
Your challenges.
Your timeline.
Comparison doesn’t just make you feel bad—it steals your progress by robbing three key things:
Clarity → you forget what you’re actually aiming for.
Confidence → you start doubting your own progress.
Joy → you overlook what’s going right.
When you’re constantly watching someone else’s lane, you lose focus on your own.
Shift the focus back to yourself.
1️⃣ Define Your Goals
What do you want—based on your life, your values, your starting point?
2️⃣ Find Your Focus
Which habits, routines, or actions truly move your needle?
3️⃣ Pursue Your Progress
Daily. Consistently. Without comparing your chapter 3 to someone else’s chapter 20.
That’s the formula.
That’s the work.
And that’s how you build momentum that actually lasts.
Comparison is noise.
Progress is focus.
Keep your eyes on your path, your process, and your purpose—because your story is supposed to look different.
